St. Kringa Carving

$145

$145

Features

  • St. Kringa is the patroness of Poland and Lithuania, a niece of St. Elizabeth of Hungary who married Prince Boleslaw and became Grand Duchess of Poland. She spent her life performing charitable works for the poor, and after her husband’s death, renounced her title and sold her possessions in order to give all her money away to the needy. This wood carving is contemporary and expressively rendered in the most unusual palette – traditional Polish folk art as a beautiful reminder to lend a helping hand whenever possible. What a lovely story. An artisan find from our cabinet of curiosities. Unique piece.
